PEORIA, Ill. — After over 20 years with UnityPoint Health, CEO and President Kevin Vermeer has chosen to step down effective April 20, 2020.
Sue Thompson, Senior Vice President of Integration and Optimization and CEO of UnityPoint Accountable Care, will serve as interim CEO until a permanent replacement is found.
Thompson was a bedside nurse, and has more than 30 years of experience of leadership with UnityPoint Health in regional operations and clinical performance improvement.
“UnityPoint Health’s top priority has always been-and continues to be-providing high-quality care to our patients and communities,” Thompson said.
A search for a permanent CEO will be done by the UnityPoint Board of Directors over the next few months.
