DUNLAP, Ill. — Dunlap students will be in the classroom five days a week this fall.
The Dunlap School Board Wednesday night voted 6-1 to approve full-time in-person instruction for the 2020-21 school year.
The board’s decision was a surprise to teachers who wanted shorter classroom instruction in the morning and remote learning in the afternoon due to ongoing concerns about COVID-19.
Teachers stood outside Dunlap High School Wednesday night before the meeting holding signs in support of a condensed hybrid school option.
All District #223 students will be dismissed early on Wednesdays. Students will be required to wear masks all day, except when outside while social distancing. Protocols are also in place to keep students who get sick at home.
Dunlap families have the option of keeping students home for full-time remote learning, but parents must decide which option they’ll use by August 3.
