SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Monday snapped a five-day streak of over 50,000 COVID-19 tests performed throughout the state, attributable partially to typically slower activity on Sundays.
The Illinois Department of Public Health said 36,155 people were tested between Sunday and Monday, while 1,612 people received positive test results.
Eight people died in that reporting period.
The state’s rolling seven-day positivity rate stood at 4.2%.
1,529 people throughout the state were in hospitals with the virus. 334 of them were in intensive care, while 141 needed ventilators.
