MORTON, Ill. — Morton District 709 is making strides as it relates to COVID-19 positives within the school district.
For the first time this school year, no student positives were recorded Friday at Morton High School.
Only one student in the entire district, at Morton Junior High, is absent due to a confirmed COVID-19 diagnosis, according to Superintendent Jeffrey Hill.
Students quarantining throughout the district also declined last week, going from 75 down to 30. According to Hill, that’s a low not seen since the first few days of school.
As of Friday, three staff members were out after testing positive with COVID-19, and seven were quarantining.
The number of students choosing remote learning is up to 257 from 254.
District 709 reports that the current positivity and quarantine rates are at .03% and 1.05%, respectively.
