The ISP has released more information regarding the accident.
The agency said the accident occurred when 18-year-old Trenton R. Mitchell of Mackinaw, who was traveling eastbound, left the roadway, crossed the median, and entered into westbound traffic.
A 23-year-old man, driving a Freightliner semi, was unable to stop, and struck Mitchell’s truck on the passenger side.
Mitchell was pronounced dead at the scene.
The semi driver was taken to a hospital with what were deemed to be non-life-threatening injuries.
ISP’s Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit was continuing Friday to investigate the incident.

PEORIA, Ill. — The Illinois State Police confirmed an accident with fatalities occurred late Thursday night on westbound Interstate 474 near the Farmington Rd. exit.
Tpr. Mindy Carroll told WMBD News a passenger vehicle and a truck-tractor semi trailer collided.
The Peoria County Sheriff’s Office said the passenger vehicle was a Chevrolet Avalanche.
Sheriff Brian Asbell said the call came in around 8:10.
Traffic was being rerouted until around 4:00 A.M. Friday to the Airport Rd. exit.
