CHICAGO — A new state law gives student athletes a little more flexibility with their team uniform.
The law lets school and college athletes modify their uniform in accordance with their personal cultural values or religious and modesty standards.
The law was sponsored by Rep. Will Guzzardi of Chicago.
“Sports should never be a place that excludes, (or) makes people feel pushed away, pushed aside, foreign or unwelcome,” Guzzardi said.
The law goes into effect immediately.
