UPDATE: (1:12 P.M.) -The Peoria County Coroner says one person has died following an accident on I-474 Friday morning.
Jamie Harwood tells our news partners at 25 News that the man in his early 70’s has been pronounced dead.

UPDATE: (12:00 p.m.) — The Illinois Department of Transportation said at 10:00 a.m. that eastbount I-474 traffic was being diverted to Illinois 29. At that time, the closure was expected to last four more hours.

UPDATE: (8:50 a.m.) — Illinois State Police told news partner 25 News that one person was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries after a two truck accident on I-474 Eastbound in Tazewell County.
IPS said the accident happened around 7:20 a.m. Friday on I-474 Eastbound at milepost 10, a mile east of the Creve Coeur/Pekin exit.
Authorities shut down Eastbound 474 around 7:35 a.m., with traffic diverted at the Pekin exit.
It was unclear how long the eastbound lanes would be closed.

TAZEWELL COUNTY, Ill. — Eastbound I-474 is blocked to traffic at Mile Marker 10, or about a mile past the Rt. 29/Pekin exit, according to the Tazewell County Sheriff’s Department. Traffic is being rerouted at the interchange.
Westbound traffic is reportedly getting through with caution.
The accident, that occurred around 7:30 a.m., involved a semi and a dump truck.
Both vehicles needed to be towed.
Authorities are advising clean up could take hours.
