PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria-based OSF HealthCare is in the midst of expanding its footprint in the city again.
OSF and Kentucky-based Kindred Healthcare say the two entities have received regulatory approval from the state to jointly own the Greater Peoria Specialty Hospital on West Romeo B. Garrett Avenue.
The two will now work on renovating the facility, so that it can have 18 long-term acute care beds, and 29 acute rehabilitation beds. The work could be complete by September 1, 2022.
“We are pleased to have obtained this approval, and excited to continue our progress in partnership with Kindred as we ready the facility to provide outstanding care to our community” said Bob Anderson, President, OSF HealthCare Saint Francis Medical Center, in a news release.
OSF says the hope will be that adults who have experienced disability due to stroke, brain injury, and other conditions will be able to rehab closer to home.
The facility will now be called OSF HealthCare Transitional Care Hospital.
