PEORIA, Ill. – You’ll get one less paper copy of the Peoria Journal Star every week if you’re a print subscriber starting in two months.
The Gannett-owned newspaper Thursday said they will stop home delivery of their Saturday edition beginning March 19th.
The paper blames “rapid shifts toward digital news consumption.”
But, in what at times were cost-shifting moves, other Gannett papers in recent years have stopped publishing editions on Saturdays and Mondays altogether.
The Journal Star says all print subscribers will now have access to the paper’s electronic edition, which will still publish on Saturdays, as well as “e-edition” access to all other Gannett papers nationwide.
It’s not clear if the newspaper will print a Saturday paper for sale at newsstands, nor if there will be any changes in subscription costs.
