PEORIA, Ill. – Two Peoria residents are now being charged with First-Degree Murder for allegedly not giving their eight-year-old son the proper care prior to his death earlier this week.
25 News reports Brandon Walker, 40, and Stephanie Jones, 35, appeared in bond court Thursday. They were arrested on Child Endangerment charges, but prosecutors have instead filed First-Degree Murder counts.
An affidavit claims when Navin Jones died Tuesday afternoon, he weighed just 30 pounds, had bruises all over his body, and was extremely malnourished.
Neighbors say the Department of Children and Family Services has been at the home in recent weeks, but the parents claim the agency never gaave them paperwork nor told him what to do about behavioral issues.
Walker and Jones are each jailed on $1 million bond, and will be back in court April 28th for arraignment.
