PEORIA, Ill. – The owner of a popular group of restaurants in Peoria says it’s closing one of its locations.
Avanti’s CEO Stefan Zeller says the location at 1301 West Main in the West Bluff neighborhood near Campustown will close next Saturday, April 9, and that all employees there have been offered the chance to transfer to any of the other remaining four locations.
Zeller says the restaurant — which sits across the street from the original Avanti’s location — quote, “is no longer a viable alternative” due to traffic congestion in the area, and demographic and population shifts there.
“Closing a store location is never an easy decision, however, the pandemic has changed the dining habits of consumers,” Zeller said, in a news release.
Zeller says, however, the locations on Knoxville and on North Rockwood will return to being open seven days a week.
The existing West Main location has been open since 1989.
