PEKIN, Ill. – A former Bradley University student will be back in court in two months in connection with the death of two out-of-state residents she allegedly hit while driving drunk.
Court records in Tazewell County indicate a judge Thursday granted the delay in the case of Stephanie Melgoza, 23, while investigators wait for the results of a toxicology exam and an accident reconstruction.
Melgoza allegedly struck and killed 43 Andrea Rosewicz of Ohio and 55 year old Paul Prowant of Seattle April 10th, as they walked along North Main Street in East Peoria.
Melgoza reportedly admitted to drinking before the crash, and also had cannabis allegedly in her possession.
She was not allowed to participate in Bradley’s graduation ceremony after the accident.
Melgoza’s next court days is September 14.
