PEORIA, Ill. — It’s a big weekend for St. Jude. The Memphis to Peoria St. Jude runners are making their way back home, and some of the longer satellite runs, from Chicago and St. Louis, are already headed this way too.
Mike McCoy, a founder of the Memphis to Peoria Run, tells WMBD’s “The Greg and Dan Show”, why St. Jude Children’s Hospital is such a big deal to Peoria.
“Peoria is the number one giving community, per capita in the country, and that’s just pretty cool. Because there are so many good charities in Peoria, we’re all friends, we help each other, but St. Jude is leading the pack,” McCoy said.
2,200 runners have raised money this year for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
In its 41 years, the Memphis to Peoria Run has raised $71 million dollars for the kids at St. Jude.
We’ll find out Saturday night how much has been raised this year…when all the satellite and Memphis to Peoria runners gather at the Peoria Civic Center for the St. Jude telethon on 25 News.
