PEORIA, Ill. – A late-afternoon fire in North Peoria was believed to be electrical in nature.
Peoria firefighters were called to a home at 8212 N. Knoxville, near Knoxville and Detweiller, at 4:08 P.M. Wednesday, and had the blaze under control in about 15 minutes.
Crews say they were able to keep the fire to the kitchen area of the home, but the entirety of the one story home has smoke damage.
One person was inside the home at the time of the fire, but no one was hurt.
Traffic on Knoxville was backed up for a time at the same time as the late-afternoon rush.
Damage is estimated at $100,000.

PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria Firefighters are working to put out a house fire in North Peoria Wednesday, not far from a number of businesses.
Chief Shawn Sollberger says crews were called to a home on North Knoxville, not far from the Peoria Fire Station off Knoxville and Detweiller, in the 4:00 P.M. hour.
No word yet on injuries or the cause of the fire, but Sollberger said the fire was very much going when crews arrived.
