MORTON, Ill. — Morton is the Pumpkin Capital of the World. And, that’s very apparent during the Morton Pumpkin Festival.
The town kicks off its 56th Pumpkin Festival Wednesday evening with entertainment, rides, the Morton Pumpkin Princess ceremony and Pumpkin flavors galore.
Morton Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Leigh Ann Brown says this year’s theme is “Pumpkins Go 80’s”.
“You’ll see the theme in shirts, merchandise, other fun experiences related to the theme. There’ll be a little bit different set up this year with the displays and decor…we’re very excited to see all the parade floats on Saturday,” Brown says.
“Most of Jefferson Street is where the parade route will be. Jefferson and Nebraska is where the kick off point is,” Brown adds.
Pumpkin Festival favorite Pumpkin donuts will be sold along the parade route Saturday. Other favorites like Pumpkin ice cream and the festival’s Pumpkin chili will be available at various sites through Saturday.
