PEORIA, Ill. – Four people including three juveniles were arrested early Friday morning for allegedly stealing a car — an early use of the city’s new license plate reader cameras.
Police say the vehicle was reported stolen at 1:07 a.m. near Sterling Avenue and Vista View Court.
About an hour and a half later, through the license plate reader, police spotted the vehicle near Louisa and Antionette.
The vehicle was eventually stopped near Starr and Western after driving through construction barriers.
Sadilya Erving, 21, two 15-year-old males and one 14-year-old male all were arrested after a foot chase.
All four face various charges.
- Erving: Criminal Trespass to Vehicles and Resisting/Obstructing Police
- 15-year-old male: Motor Vehicle Theft (previous case), Attempted Motor Vehicle Theft (previous case), Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, Resisting/Obstructing Police
- 15-year-old male: Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, Resisting/Obstructing Police.
- 14-year-old male: Motor Vehicle Theft (previous case), Attempted Motor Vehicle Theft (previous case), Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, Resisting/Obstructing Police, active Peoria County warrant.
All remain in custody.
