NORMAL, Ill. – A Peoria-based financial institution wants to make a big donation to its neighbors to the south and east.
Agenda documents for Friday’s meeting of the Illinois State University Board of Trustees indicate consideration of a plan to rename ISU’s Redbird Arena “CEFCU Arena.”
The university says CEFCU plans to donate $3.1 million over ten years to make the renaming happen.
In addition to being home of ISU indoor athletics, Redbird Arena has been home of the state high school girls basketball tournament.
The ISU Board meets Friday morning.
The donation is not the only big one CEFCU is making this year. In September, CEFCU announced it would donate $500,000 to UnityPoint Health’s “Young Minds Project” — converting the former Heddington Oaks into a behavioral health facility for youth.
