PEORIA, Ill. – An Associate Judge in the local judicial circuit is getting a promotion of sorts.
10th Circuit Chief Judge Katherine Gorman and the Illinois Supreme Court say Judge Frank Ierulli has been appointed an At-Large Circuit Judge.
“Judge lerulli has served with distinction as an Associate Judge. He has earned the opportunity to become a Circuit Judge.” Gorman said, in a news release. “He is a hard worker who has been assigned very difficult courtrooms. We look forward to his continued service to the Judicial Branch and the people of the Tenth Judicial Circuit.”
Ierulli will take over for Judge Michael Risinger effective Thursday, and will serve until the general election in November, 2024, where he could run for a full term. Risinger is retiring.
“In his new role as Circuit Judge, I have no doubt Judge lerulli will continue to honor his longstanding commitments to serving others and judicial excellence,” Illinois Supreme Court Chief Justice Lisa Holder White said, in a news release. “Judge lerulli has earned the respect of his fellow judges, the legal community, and the citizens of Peoria County. The Tenth Circuit will be well served by Judge lerulli’s elevation to Circuit Judge.”
Ierulli is a former private practice attorney and former employee of the Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office.
He’s been an Associate Judge since 2016.
