SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – A state official with ties to Peoria and WMBD is leaving her role.
Governor JB Pritzker’s office says Illinois Department of Natural Resources director Colleen Callahan will step down January 16th.
A statement doesn’t explain why Callahan is stepping down.
Callahan, who’s been with the state since 2019 and worked for the USDA before that, is being credited, according to Pritzker’s office, with guiding DNR “through the formation of a new strategic plan focused on protecting Illinois’s [sic] natural resources and reducing the impact of climate change.”
Callahan is a former longtime WMBD Radio and TV farm broadcaster.
No word on who the Governor will nominate to replace her.
Also stepping down in the coming weeks are Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity Director Sylvia Garcia, Department of Central Management Services Director Anthony Pascente, and Illinois Department of Innovation and Technology Secretary Jennifer Ricker.
