PEORIA, Ill. — Peoria firefighters responded around 2:15 a.m. Wednesday to a fire on E. Gift, between Seneca Place and Virginia Avenue.
Fire Battalion Chief Ryan Calhoun says they found heavy smoke and fire in the kitchen. Multiple companies searched the home, no one was inside. The fire was brought under control in less than 45 minutes.
Two occupants got out before crews arrived. One person was treated for minor injuries on-scene.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
