NORMAL, Ill. – The Rivian plant in Normal may undergo some changes, but they may have nothing to do with production of electric vehicles still not meeting estimates.
The town of Normal’s Planning Commission will consider a proposal this week for the automaker to install solar panels east of the plant’s test track over fifteen acres, accompanying an already-approved but not installed wind turbine.
The company also plans to plant wildflowers and native grasses in the area.
Also up for approval: a nearly 1,200 space parking lot for employees. The company says now, some employees have to park in a remote lot and walk up to a half mile to get to work.
