STANFORD, Ill. – A fire at the Middle and High School in Olympia is giving students there a day off Friday.
That’s according to superintendent Laura O’Donnell, who says there will be no access to the campus until the fire department gives the all-clear.
Fire broke out during the latter half of the school day, and drone footage from 25 News shows damage to the school’s roof, around the area of solar panels that have been installed there. No official cause, however, has been released.
O’Donnell says students will be allowed to get their belongings once the fire department gives that all-clear.
Olympia grade school students will still attend class Friday, and officials say further communication will be given over the weekend.
