PEORIA, Ill. – Getting through the first round of the SPHL playoffs was easy for the Peoria Rivermen, while getting home to play the game that got them there wasn’t.
A bus breakdown led the Rivermen to play later than planned Saturday night at Carver Arena, but they got the job done against Pensacola, winning 2-1 and clinching the best of three series.
Alec Hagaman and Jordan Ernst scored the Rivermen goals.
Next up for the Rivermen will be either Roanoke or Fayetville. That Round 2 series starts Wednesday on the road. Game two will be Friday night at Carver Arena.
