QUINCY, Ill. – The location of a deadly Legionnaire’s Sisease outbreak back in 2015 is once again the site of a case.
The Illinois Departments of Public Health and Veterans Affairs say they have confirmed one case of Legionnaire’s Disease at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy.
The case was confirmed late Thursday afternoon, but state officials are just now telling the public about it 24 hours later.
The state says the case is isolated, and the rest of the veterans home will be monitored closely for the next two weeks.
Water contaminated with Legionella can get into the lungs, causing the disease.
The Quincy Veterans Home was largely rebuilt after the 2015 outbreak, killing twelve people. The occasional disease report has still come from the home since.
