PEORIA, Ill. – A GFL Garbage collection truck is heavily damaged after it caught fire Wednesday afternoon.
Peoria Firefighters say they were called to the fire near Richmond and Knoxville just prior to 4:30 p.m.
A rear tire had caught fire, spreading to the real axle, and crews say they had to protect the fuel tanks on the vehicle, including a natural gas tank on top.
No one was hurt, but the truck got an estimated $80,000 in damage.
