PEORIA, Ill. – Two Peoria residents are going to prison while a third gets time already served after federal prosecutors say they made false statements related to the federal Paycheck Protection Program started during the COVID-19 pandemic, and after two of them fraudulently collected unemployment insurance.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office says Kendall Mack, 26, was sentenced Tuesday to time already served in prison plus three years of probation. Rasheem McCree, 38, was sent to prison for 27 months followed by three years of parole. And, Adrian Morris, 27, was sent to prison for 24 months followed by three years of parole.
Each of the three claimed to own a barber shop that never existed, nor were they barbers.
McCree and Morris also got unemployment from Illinois and several other states.
The three also owe restitution. Mack owes $39,239.08. McCree owes $89,981.34. Morris owes $60,642.
The three were among a number of Peoria residents indicted in October, 2022. While Mack pleaded guilty in May of this year, the other two pleaded guilty in April. McCree and Morrie were ordered to report to federal prison November 14, 2023.
