PEORIA, Ill. – (25 News) – A federal judge on Thursday scheduled a February jury trial for former Reditus Labs CEO Aaron Rossi, who’s charged with tax and mail fraud.
Judge Sara Darrow scheduled the trial to begin on February 26, with a pretrial conference set for November 29.
Rossi is accused of defrauding the Bloomington company he used to work for – Central Illinois Orthopedic Surgery – during a four-year period before he launched Reditus.
Earlier this month, Judge Darrow ordered Rossi jailed until his trial for violating conditions of his bond.
Court documents alleged Rossi violated bond conditions by selling 17 vehicles valued at approximately $5 million without the court’s approval, and he allegedly violated curfew in August when he didn’t return home by 10 p.m. after meeting with his lawyers in Chicago.
Rossi is appealing the judge’s detention order to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, based in Chicago.
Also on Thursday, Judge Darrow allowed one of Rossi’s attorneys, Edward McNally, to withdraw from the case.
Under Rossi’s leadership, Pekin-based Reditus Labs won lucrative multi-million-dollar state government contracts to perform COVID-19 testing. The state did not renew the contracts after criminal charges were filed against Rossi.
Pekin-based Reditus went out of business in October of last year.
