GENESEO, Ill. – Illinois State Police say they’ve made one of their largest cannabis arrests in history – and it occurred not too far away from Peoria.
State Troopers say they seized 5,200 pounds of cannabis while pulling over a large bus on Interstate 80 near Geneseo in Henry County Wednesday afternoon.
Troopers estimate the street value of the pot they found to be anywhere between $6.3 million, and $14.7 million.
That stretch of interstate near the Quad Cities has long been a place where drug transportation has been busted up.
The two people arrested – 29-year-old Robert Mazo and 33-year-old Pedro Arreola, both from Lancaster, California – were released from jail with conditions on Class-X and Class-1 felony drug charges.
