PEORIA, Ill. – Apparently it was staffing that caused general surgeries to move from Carle Health’s Pekin and Proctor Hospitals to Methodist Hospital.
A statement from Carle Health and Springfield Clinic says the general surgeries are starting again at Proctor and Pekin, with both medical firms stating that Springfield Clinic Doctors are stepping in to help.
Carle says there will be no delays or interruptions in any service.
“Quality and continuity of care is our most important goal when it comes to our patients,” said Dr. Keith Knepp, Carle Health Greater Peoria President. “Our hospital campuses in the Greater Peoria area offer an extensive array of surgical services. We are pleased that our Carle physicians and other providers on our hospital medical staff can collaborate with Springfield Clinic physicians to continue our mission to deliver excellent care for our patients and their families.”
For its part, Springfield Clinic officials say they’re committed to “developing hospital partnerships throughout the greater Peoria area.
According to Carle Health, “general surgeries” are defined as “a specific number of surgical components, mostly concerning the alimentary tract, abdomen, breast, skin and soft tissue, head and neck.”
All three Carle Health hospitals still had more specialized surgeries available without interruption.
