PEORIA, Ill. – An arrest has been made in relation to a fatal pedestrian vs. vehicle accident at a shooting scene in October.
Peoria Police say Demetrius Drummond, 35, was arrested after pulling into a business at Knoxville and Detweiller, just after 7:45 P.M. on Thursday.
Officers allegedly seized illegal controlled substances after a search of his vehicle.
Drummond was identified as the suspect who allegedly fired his weapon in the area of Knoxville and Thrush in the early morning hours of October 28th.
Police say 24-year-old Kobe Johnson reportedly was inadvertently run over by a vehicle after those shots were fired. Johnson was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead later that morning. An autopsy revealed Johnson died of “multiple blunt force trauma and crash injuries.”
Drummond is charged with Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, Reckless Discharge of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon, Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Aggravated Domestic Battery.
He was taken to the Peoria County Jail.
