PEORIA, Ill. – The City of Peoria has hired someone for a $110,000 a year city job, and she’s already familiar with city operations.
The city says Melodi Green, a Peoria native and attorney, becomes Peoria’s Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer on December first.
Green — who was hired after a nationwide search, and assuming the City Council approves next year’s budget — will lead the city’s “diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts,” according to City Manager Patrick Urich, in a news release.
Green has previously worked as one of Peoria’s City Attorneys, and as chief of the Juvenile Division of the Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office.
She’s currently pursuing a Diversity and Inclusion certificate from Cornell University.
