SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – You now have even more time to get your drivers license or state I.D. card renewed if it’s expired.
“The previous deadline was scheduled for March 31st of 2022,” said Henry Haupt, Illinois Secretary of State spokesperson. “And, as a result, drivers licenses and I.D. cards that are currently expired on the face, are actually valid until July 31st.”
Illinois Secretary of State spokesperson Henry Haupt says the new extension was so that drivers don’t rush into service facilities while dealing with inclement weather.
The new extension, however, does NOT apply to Commercial Drivers Licenses.
