PEORIA, Ill. — A Bradley University graduate has created a new app to help you be a more informed voter.
Jonathon Braun told WMBD’s “The Greg and Dan Show”, the Perikles app provides all the election information you need before going to the polls.
“It tells you all your candidates per position, and then a bio and a policy on that candidate. So, you can get a sense of the candidates on an equal playing field based on their ideas,” Braun said.
The Perikles app also tells you how to register and where to vote based on your location.
Braun got the idea to develop the app after studying about democratic processes in developing countries.
The app is named after one of the first elected kings of Athens, Greece, Pericles, who put forth some of the first ideas about democracy, or a government of the people.
Braun said when he voted in his first election, he wasn’t very informed.
“When people go to vote, they usually know like presidential, maybe a governor race. The rest of it they’re just voting blind or party affiliation in most cases,” Braun said.
The Perikles app charges users a low one-time fee and is available at the Google and iPhone app stores.
