EUREKA, Ill. – A Woodford County jury took about an hour to find a Spring Bay man guilty Friday of several charges in a vehicle crash that claimed the life of an East Peoria man.
Court records indicate Kenneth Brinkley, 26, was convicted on charges of Aggravated Driving Under the Influence, Criminal Damage to Government Property, and counts of Aggravated Fleeing.
Brinkley — driving a UTV on and off the road in mid-March being chased by police part of the way — struck a squad car and later crashed into a tree near Bay View Gardens, killing his passenger, Ryan Pitts, 24.
Brinkley is believed to have had a blood alcohol level more than twice the legal limit at the time of the crash.
He’ll be sentenced November first, and could face as much as fourteen years in prison on just the DUI-related charges.
