CHILLICOTHE, Ill. – About six months after an AMT ambulance was sent to Ukraine to help that country in its battle with Russia, another piece of local equipment is about to head there.
The Chillicothe Fire Department is sending one of its fire trucks to Ukraine.
“This engine’s been here since the very beginning in 1996. It started out at Station One, and it’s now kind of a reserve piece of equipment for us,” said Roderick, to 25 News. “We want to help (Ukraine) in any way they can help their citizens.”
Roderick tells 25 News the engine loaded with equipment he and the department think Ukraine will need.
“We loaded it up with a bunch of other things we’re not going to use, but hopefully they’ll be able to use. We have some air packs, and some fire hose fittings, and fire hose, things like that.”
It also is signed with messages of support by the firefighers.
A send-off ceremony will be held Monday at 6:00 P.M. at Chillicothe Fire Station One.
