WASHINGTON, Ill. – The Mayor of Washington is strongly considering throwing his hat into the ring for another state legislative seat that is in Republican hands because of the incumbent’s resignation.
Gary Manier tells 25 News “Right now, I’m a yes” for running for the 53rd District seat in the Illinois Senate.
As has been the case with other recent resignations, Senator Jason Barickman just won a term in November for the district, but submitted his resignation several days ago.
Parts of Tazewell and a dozen other counties are in the district, and party leaders will meet January seventh, and applications are due January 5th.
