Kolesar and a male were riding on a motorized scooter on Caroline Street in Pekin when it was struck by a car around 1:45 a.m. An autopsy showed Kolesar died of multiple blunt force trauma injuries.
The male, identified by Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood as 47-year-old Justin Barnhart, died not long after being taken to a Peoria hospital, also of multiple blunt force trauma injuries, based on an autopsy.
It’s not yet clear if a car found on fire Thursday afternoon was the vehicle used in the crime. A 2015 Chrysler 200 was believed to have been the suspect vehicle.
