PEORIA, Ill. – A now-former employee of Peoria’s Friendship House was indicted by a Grand Jury on Tuesday for Criminal Sexual Assault, a class 1 felony.
Jasmine Lamon, 22, according to the indictment, “knowingly committed an act of sexual penetration with [name redacted] at least 13 years of age and and under 18 years of age while holding a position of trust, authority or supervision in relation to the victim, being the victim’s supervisor at work.” The alleged crime happened on or around July 17, 2023, according to court documents.
Lamon had been an employee of Peoria’s Friendship House. CEO Marcellus Sommerville tells 25 News in a statement she is no longer employed there, and that there will be no further comment because of the ongoing investigation. The Friendship House is a Christian-based non-profit that offers services to Peoria and the surrounding area. Some of those services include mentoring, health support, family services and more.
Lamon is set to appear for arraignment on Thursday, August 17. She has been released from the Peoria County Jail.
“We are aware of the allegations, and we are taking the matter very seriously. The individual subject to the investigation at issue is no longer employed at the Peoria Friendship House. However, because the matter is under investigation and that investigation is ongoing, we have no further comment at this time.” –Marcellus Sommerville statement to 25News
