BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Police in Bloomington say an employee of Illinois State University was arrested and charged with a felony sex crime.
Police say Alan Bates, 52, was taken into custody Wednesday on a warrant charging him with Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault.
Authorities say the arrest came after what they called a “lengthy investigation.” 25 News reports the offenses occurred between late-October of 2007 and late-October of 2015.
Bates is listed as an ISU professor and director of their School of Teaching and Learning.
He’s jailed in McLean County on $1 million bond and is scheduled for a court date September 8th.
Illinois State University is aware of the arrest and charges against Alan Bates. The university has received no information as of this time suggesting the charges are connected to his employment at Illinois State.
