PEKIN, Ill. – The process to fill the vacancy on the Pekin City Council is underway.
The vacancy was created after Becky Cloyd resigned last week.
Those interested in the position can pick up packets to apply, starting Tuesday. Applications are due by 4:00 P.M. on December 1st.
Elected officials in the city will then review the applications and narrow them down to a list of candidates to be interviewed. Whoever is appointed will serve until May 2025.
City Manager John Dossey says they are hopeful to have the position filled by January 13th.
Requirements for the position include living within the city limits of Pekin, living within Pekin for the past year, being registered to vote in Pekin, not a current employee of the city of Pekin, have no felony convictions, and owe no taxes to the city of Pekin.
