Red White and Boom, typically the largest fireworks show in all of Illinois, will return for 2024 on the Illinois River between Peoria and East Peoria. But this year, the show will have a new title sponsor.
The new name will be, “Choose Greater Peoria Red White and Boom.”
Choose Greater Peoria is supported by the Gilmore Foundation and, among other things, is focused on recruiting and retaining talent for employers and promoting the entire Greater Peoria area.
“One of the key components of employee retention and attraction is quality of life, and a big fireworks show like the one along the Peoria and East Peoria riverfronts can certainly be that, along with other area offerings,” said Gilmore Foundation President, Laura Cullinan.
Since 1987, the Red White and Boom pyrotechnics extravaganza has attracted up to an estimated 200,000 people to the Peoria and East Peoria riverfronts. It ranks among the top 2% of shows in the nation, and most years is the biggest show in Illinois.
The massive, 30-minute fireworks show is launched from a dual barge in the middle of the Illinois River. The fireworks shells explode to the choreographed beats of music on five Midwest Communications radio stations. The event is expected to include a military flyover by a C-130 from the Peoria-based Illinois Air National Guard, with the fireworks show itself beginning at 9:30pm on the Fourth of July.
Music, food and drink vendors, and entertainment surrounds the event, which is open to everyone and is free of charge. Updates are regularly added at www.RedWhiteAndBoom.us.
In the event of rain or wind which prohibits the fireworks from being launched on July 4th, the currently-established rain-date is July 5th.
