PEORIA, Ill. – A 53-year-old man has been formally charged with criminal sexual assault of a relative, when the relative was 12 and 13 years old.
The abuse occurred nearly four years ago and the victim has now come forward.
The Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office says a judge ordered Leroy Mackey released on conditions that include GPS monitoring and that he has no contact with the victim or anyone under the age of 18.
Police responded to a local school March 11 regarding a student reporting sexual abuse in the home. The victim disclosed the the officers Mackey had sexually abused the victim on numerous occasions.
Additionally, officers received a recent audio recording in which Mackey discussed the past abuse with the victim, apologizing during that conversation.
