PEORIA, Ill. – An Alamabama woman who at one time lived in both Peoria and Springfield admitted to buying guns for a then-boyfriend, and has now pleaded guilty to a federal crime.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office says April Alexandra Soriano, 31, pleaded guilty Wednesday to Making False Statements.
Soriano allegedly bought five guns between November of 2018 and April of 2020. A gun she bought at a sporting good store in Springfield was later found to be used in a shooting in Chicago.
Another gun was found in a Peoria home where she once stayed with her then-boyfriend.
Soriano claims her then-boyfriend needed the gun found in a Peoria home because of drug deals going on around them.
She’ll be sentenced January 27th.
